Sales Manager                     

 

The Sales Manager provides leadership within the sales function of the organization.  Through development and execution of a sales and marketing plan, the incumbent will manage, evaluate and adjust department activities in order to maintain and increase profitability and overall department success. 

 

Main Duties:

 

  • Proactively drive equipment sales using various strategies: business development, budget planning, pricing, promotions, and setting sales targets.
  • Take the lead on equipment (whole goods) sales for both commercial and consumer products; estimate or quote prices, credit terms, and trade-in allowances.
  • Actively seek opportunities to quote on municipal and commercial equipment tenders and draft required paperwork/proposals.
  • Develop seasonal sales goals and evaluate on a regular basis to ensure they are being met/exceeded.
  • Provide input on seasonal booking orders.
  • Stay informed on product knowledge, market research, industry trends, evolving customer needs/wants, sales volume, and local/regional competition.
  • Conceptualize and produce merchandise displays for both indoor and outdoor areas in order to maximize product visibility and saleability.
  • Foster strong working relationships with supplier reps.
  • Responsible for the management of front office sales staff including workflow, employee relations, training, and hiring.
  • Plan and execute sales, marketing and promotion activities (advertising, trade shows, etc).
  • Follow up on customer relations and administrative duties as required.

 

 

Skills:

 

  • Basic computer/word processing skills are required and the ability to handle sales transactions (cash, credit and debit, returns and on account purchases).
  • Will utilize experience to assist other department members with sales of more complex parts and machinery.
  • Work is 80% indoors in an industrial/office setting. Outside work involves display of equipment for sale; conversing with customers outdoors, etc.

 

Additional requirements:

 

  • Completion of secondary education.
  • A college diploma or university degree in business or a related discipline or equivalent professional experience is an asset.
  • Several years of related sales experience at increasing levels of responsibility
  • Demonstrated sales ability
  • Knowledge of small engines and/or lawn and garden equipment is an asset.
  • Experience in setting and managing sales and promotional budgets
  • Strong customer service background and comfortable dealing with difficult situations.
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally (in person/telephone) and in writing (email/fax).

 

 

Sales Representative          

 

The Sales Representative provides direct sales on all lines of equipment and replacement parts sold by the Company.  He or she will also provide customer service both in person and over the phone, answering queries related to sales and service.

 

Main Duties:

 

  • Greet customers and discuss type, quality and quantity of merchandise or services sought for purchase
  • Advise customers on use and care of merchandise, and provide advice concerning specialized products or services.
  • Advise retail customers on appropriateness of parts, materials or equipment requested.
  • Estimate or quote prices, credit terms, and trade-in allowances on consumer equipment.
  • Prepare sales receipts and accept cash, cheque, credit card or automatic debit payment.
  • Arrange merchandise in showroom and outside display areas.
  • Operate computerized inventory record keeping and re-ordering systems: maintain pricing and part number updates/information in system
  • Prepare merchandise for purchase when required.
  • Answer incoming calls/emails

 

Skills:

Service Technician

 

The service technician will test, repair and service small gasoline-powered equipment such as garden tractors, lawnmowers, brush cutters, chain saws, and other related equipment.

The ideal candidate will have completed an apprenticeship program in small engine or equipment repair; or have several years work experience in the trade along with applicable high school and/or college courses in the field.

 

If you do not meet the above requirements, but have a strong interest in equipment repair and mechanical aptitude, we are willing to train and mentor you to the skill level necessary for this role.

Main Duties:

 

  • Review work orders and discuss work to be performed with supervisor
  • Inspect and test engine, motors and other mechanical components using test devices to diagnose and isolate faults
  • Adjust, repair or replace mechanical or electrical system parts and components using hand and air-powered tools and other equipment
  • Test and adjust repaired equipment for proper performance
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service on shop equipment
  • Advise customers on work performed and general condition of equipment
  • Determine estimates of repair cost and recommend alternatives where appropriate.
  • Regularly attend seminars/factory schools to increase/update product and mechanical knowledge. This is in addition to regular apprenticeship program. 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship program in small engine or equipment repair (or working towards completion).
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Eager to learn and grow within the trade.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
